When I reached a plateau in my 60+ lbs weight loss…I knew it was time to incorporate movement in my routine.  I started by asking myself how I liked to move my body as a child. With flashbacks of joyous memories of roller skates, and bicycles…I got started.  First stop…the skating rink, I was wobbly at best…but I was doing it!!!  Next came bike riding, only that proved to be easier, and something that is now a permanent fixture in my life again.

But even with adding these very important elements back into my life, I still wasn’t seeing the results that I wanted.  I was putting off what I KNEW I needed to do.  I needed to join a gym.  More than that, I needed to work throught the fears I had attached to the gym.  I had to face this next challenge head on!  At Pure Vitality we get asked all the time what is the best gym to join, because honestly, most people don’t have the time to research all the information you need to make that kind of decision.  So Marie to the rescue!  I’ve done the work for you, and tested them out and this is what I’ve come up with.  I hope it helps!

Pros: Golds Gym has so many things to choose from (Including two local locations)!  From the first tour I realized, no matter what kind of fitness experience I was looking for, they would have it! From circuit training, to multiple classes, they really do have it all!  Need childcare?  No problem, they have a dedicated area for kids to watch movies, & even a rock climbing wall!

Cons:  More expensive than other gyms and they required a contract.  Also childcare is available but there is a cost for everytime you bring a child.

Pros: Very clean and did not even smell like a gym!  Affordable for most people.  They had great equipment and  30-minute circuit training.  Showers are available and bathrooms are very clean.

Cons: They do not offer any classes or childcare.  They offer “coaches” rather than personal trainers, and the cost was a bit high.

Pros: Big and beautiful, with several different classrooms for various classes, raquetball courts, and a nice childcare area.  One advantage is that childcare is a flat rate per month.  They have a swimming pool and saunas.  Personal trainers are available as well.  One huge advantage is that there are no contracts!

Cons: Can be busy, and hard to get certain equipment.

The Conclusion:

Even though, as I said in the video above, I chose LA Fitness…then came to a different conclusion for me…I can’t stress enough that physical activity is SO important!!!  It increases muscle mass, flexability, and strengthens the heart & lungs.  More thatn that though, if you chose the movement that is best for YOUR body, the one you’re more likely to be consistany with, then you will be healthy in mind, body, and spirit.  You will feel whole!  So get moving!!!  For more information on the Eat Right For Your Blood Type Diet & Exercise recommendations click  HERE.
